The \u201cKaamos\u201d period, corresponding to the polar night, offers light and colors worthy of Christmas tales, with trees often wrapped in snow. Late winter is more suitable for outdoor activities, thanks to milder temperatures and abundant sunshine. Summer is also a major attraction, notably due to the midnight sun and its fiery colors; the Finnish summer lifestyle is an experience in itself. Be aware of mosquitoes, though! Finally, autumn, particularly the \u201cRuska\u201d period, presents a completely different scene, colorful and rich for foraging. The period to avoid is the snowmelt (May).<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Do you provide cold-weather gear ?<\/strong><br>\nNo, we rely on the fact that our guests will inevitably need to equip themselves for their stay, and will therefore be properly outfitted for our activities.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Do you offer an accommodation ?<\/strong><br>\nNo, we do not provide lodging, but we offer a full range of activities that you can enjoy with us. However, you can check our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.talvenmaa.com\/recommandations-dhebergement\/\"> \"Our accommodation recommendations\"<\/a><\/strong>section. We have listed quality accommodation providers with whom we have established a trusted relationship and whom we can recommend.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>What is the best time to see the Northern Lights ?<\/strong> <br>\nFirstly, auroras are only visible when it is dark, which is why they cannot be seen in summer. Paradoxically, December and January are not always the best periods, as the skies are often cloudy despite the long nights. The best times are autumn and March, although the difference is minimal. Overall, clear skies and strong solar activity are what you need!<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Is it dark all day in December ?<\/strong><br>\nThis misconception is quite common. No, we are far from the polar night experienced at the poles or in Svalbard, for example. Latitude matters, but at the Arctic Circle, even if the sun rises only briefly, the \u201cdaylight\u201d period (meaning you can see without a lamp) lasts about 5 hours at the darkest point of winter\u2014roughly from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. around December 21. After that, the days lengthen very quickly, sometimes gaining up to 10 minutes per day. By May, it doesn\u2019t get dark at all ! <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>What is the age limit for children ?<\/strong><br>\nTo answer this, each activity must be considered individually, as the age requirement is always specified. Age (or height) limits are set for specific reasons. For example, on a snowmobile, passengers must be at least 1.40\u202fm tall to reach the footrests and sit safely.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Why is the number of participants limited ?<\/strong><br>\nThe number of guests is often limited by Talvenmaa\u2019s very concept: private, authentic experiences that ensure animal welfare.
